Job Expectations
- Working with a variety of special needs children - ADHD, Autism, and Learning Disabilities.
- Collaborating with our dynamic team of special education teachers, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, counselors and clinicians.
- Identifying student capabilities and creating lessons utilizing core aligned curriculum.
- Preparing resources textbooks and teaching materials and proficiency with online collaborative tools required for support.
- Executing lesson plans that support each student’s learning style and academic capabilities.
- Providing clear goals and objectives for each student; create and maintain written reports and report cards for each student.
- Developing strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Monitoring student progress on a regular basis to ensure that goals are being met.
- Establishing and maintaining open and positive lines of communication with students and parents
- Attending reviews or other related meetings.
- Uphold and enforce school rules and policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Ontario Teacher Certification or Equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience teaching students with children with learning disabilities or special needs
- Minimum 2 years classroom experience in a public or private school
- Vulnerable sector clearance.
- Proven ability to multi-task
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
